International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF)

Includes their free Healthy Living with Bipolar Disorder book for people living with bipolar disorder and their loved ones.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA)

Features resources such as “Peers thriving with Bipolar Disorder” and other resources related to mood disorders.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)

Includes a very lengthy and detailed information guide for Bipolar Disorder as well as resources for many other conditions.

Psychology Today‘s Listing – Therapist/provider database with various filters (e.g., location, insurance, types of therapy, virtual vs. in-person)

Additional Mental Health Resources:

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) – The lead federal agency for research on mental disorders. Includes resources on bipolar disorder such as an overview, publications, and pediatric bipolar disorder resources (e.g., Bipolar Disorder in Teens and Young Adults: Know the Signs; Bipolar Disorder in Children and Teens page).

Mental Health America (MHA) – Provides resources on mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder, including pediatric bipolar disorder.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is “the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.” The site has resources on Bipolar Disorder as well as additional conditions.

American Psychological Association (APA) – The American Psychological Association (APA) is a scientific and professional organization that represents psychologists in the United States. Resources include bipolar disorder pages (overview; signs/symptoms) as well as featured articles by leading experts (e.g., Myths and Realities About Bipolar Disorder). There are many findings (e.g., publications) in their results!

American Psychiatric Association (APA) – The American Psychiatric Association is the main professional organization of psychiatrists and trainee psychiatrists in the United States. Their site includes Bipolar Disorder information.

The International Society for Bipolar Disorders – “The mission… is to foster international collaboration in education, research and clinical care to improve the lives of those with bipolar disorder and related conditions.” Includes a page of global resources related to Bipolar Disorder support.

The Mighty Site – You can browse articles, many of which are based on “lived experience” of individuals with physical and/or mental health conditions. You can search by conditions (e.g., bipolar disorder). There are “collections” based on different topics, such as “Newly Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.” It is a great community!
